Impact ’08 hosted its largest event ever – and the last before the election – featuring former Secretary of State Dr. Henry Kissinger and former Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin discussing the economic and national security challenges facing the next president.

Following the non-partisan panel discussion, prominent representatives from both presidential campaigns – Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell on behalf of Sen. Barack Obama and former Navy Secretary and 9/11 Commission member John Lehman on behalf of Sen. John McCain – addresses the nearly 900 business, community and student leaders. The evening’s program was moderated by CNN Special Correspondent Frank Sesno and included welcoming remarks by Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter and University of Pennsylvania President Dr. Amy Gutmann.

Impact '08 in Pennsylvania: Building a Better, Safer World, and partners, The Annenberg School of Communication at the University of Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry and the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia, have formed a coalition of civic, business, military and faith based leaders in Pennsylvania who together are calling on the presidential candidates to emphasize "smart power", the strategic use of diplomacy and development tools, as well as the military, in engaging the rest of the world.
