The Washington Post's Dana Priest moderates the "National Security and Election 2008: The Military Voice" panel discussion at the Center for U.S. Global Engagement's 2008 Washington Conference, "Election '08: The Global Impact." Panelists included Adm. Steve Abbott, USN (Ret.), the former Deputy Commander in Chief, U.S. European Command, Adm. James Loy, USCG (Ret.), former U.S. Coast Guard Commandant and former Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security, Rudy DeLeon, former Deputy Secretary of Defense, and Robert "Bud" McFarlane, former National Security Advisor. The panel discussed the Center's new poll of post-9/11 military officers and their views on the threats facing America in the next four years and what tools are needed to meet those threats.
