We live in an interconnected world, and America’s security and prosperity are linked to the security and prosperity of other nations as never before. Military power alone cannot keep us safe from terrorism, infectious diseases and other global threats that recognize no borders.

There is something we can do to make us more secure – we can use our non-military tools such as global development and diplomacy to extend a hand to countries in need, save lives, promote stability, create jobs and economic opportunities, build partnerships and demonstrate America’s moral leadership.

I urge you to elevate and strengthen support for America’s non-military tools of global engagement – development and diplomacy -- to build a better, safer world. Please tell me your plan to do this as President.
